Life is good for Sherman, and he decides to ask for Denise's hand in marriage. She says yes, and the entire Klump clan prepares for the wedding. Meanwhile, Buddy Love, a brash thug, lives inside Sherman, and he surfaces at the most inopportune times, such as when he meets Denise's parents. When a pharmaceutical company offers Wellman College $150 million for the serum, Buddy Love takes over. He infiltrates the Klump home and discovers the vial of serum Sher-man has hidden in a refrigerator in the garage.
Buddy is discovered by Grandma Klump, and she tries to quickly become romantically involved. Delivered in the scene is probably the funniest part of the movie, particularly after it's set up by Grandma's obvious sex drive. When not chasing Buddy, she usually speaks of her sexual exploits with a friend, who happens to be a very old man. Directed by Peter Segal, "Nutty Professor II: The Klumps" delivers mostly sopho-moric and bathroom humor, and the story is silly. Of course, that's the goal, and Segal and Murphy hit that target.
BASED ON A TRUE STORY PG-13 5 lessness, and the public in turn has pushed millions and millions through the box offices. "The Klumps" doesn't push the envelope quite as far (thus, the PG-13 rating), but it does feed us a string of jokes mostly along the line of stomach gas and gravity and it's effects on older women. Is this a sign of moral decay? Oh, probably not. It is, however, an indication the current movie-going public prefers scattershot humor some may find offensive. The sensitive need to stay "The Klumps" focuses on the life of Wellman College professor Sherman Klump and his family.
Eddie Murphy plays the roles of Sherman, Buddy Love, Mama Klump, Papa Klump, Ernie Klump and Grandma Klump. In this, the sequel to 1996's "The Nutty Professor," Sherman finds a love interest in Denise Gaines (Janet Jackson). She, too, is a professor, and the two are experts in DNA research.
